Outside the Box

Last year, one of my mentors Justin, recommended to me the book titled The Values Factor by Dr. John Demartini. I now credit this book with helping me reveal my true passions in life, which are my faith, love for travel, landscape photography, writing, meaningful conversations, and speaking of reading, spending time with a great book in my hand.

After reading The Values Factor last year, I realized that I could combine several of my values and share things that I love with all of you. Thus, this website, Coastin with Collin was born.

What is Coastin with Collin?

One of my favorite musical artists is Sturgill Simpson. Sturgill has always been known to bend the country music genre and explore other musical genres. He is a man who has never fit inside any box. My favorite album by Sturgill, Sound and Fury, is a prime example of him not fitting into a mold, as he ventures into a fusion of rock, blues, and a hint of outlaw country. To make things even more interesting for that Sound and Fury album, Sturgill decided to have a Japanese-Anime style for all the music videos associated with the album. Truly, a man that doesn’t fit inside any true niche.

I tell this Sturgill story as an introduction to this website. Here within these posts, you will see a blend of all my passions. I will talk about my faith, share with all of you travel tips and tricks, and even sprinkle in some lifestyle hacks that have helped me out along the way.

Journey or Destination?

I have been incredibly blessed to have tons of journeys already in my short time here on earth. I am looking forward to sharing these expeditions with all of you in the coming posts.

I used to say I was a destination-type guy, but now I am a full-blown Journeyman. I am continuing to learn how to appreciate the here and now and the moment at hand. Another mentor of mine, Andrea, has been a huge inspiration to me and helped me to grow in gratitude and develop my love for travel. I am grateful for Andrea, Justin, and many more who have always challenged me to chase after my goals and dreams and over and above all, be true to myself.

As mentioned earlier, one of my favorite passions is photography, specifically landscape photography. All the photos you will find on this website are those that I have been able to capture throughout my travels.
